coolant fan running to loud
I have a 98 ford contour that I recently replaced the radiator and water pump on. Since then the fan has run excessively loud - what can the problem be. Car seems to be running fine, but the noise is excessive

Re: coolant fan running to loud
Welcome to the forum. If you have just replaced the radiator and water pump I would venture to say the fan blades are rubbing against the shroud or the radiator. The motor doesn't have to be on to check them. Turn the fan by hand and look and listen.

Re: coolant fan running to loud
Thanks for your reply,The fan that is running is the little coolant fan that kicks on and off - now runs constantly at a high level of noise. The repairs were done at a Ford Dealership, but now they do not want to talk about what could be wrong

Re: coolant fan running to loud
take it back and put your foot down.......check that the fan and housing are solidly connected to the radiator, sometimes they miss the lower mounts on that fan housing....I would pull the whole thing out (fan) and check, it is relatively easy may have bad fan motor

I totally concur with 1grouch. Take it back. Did you know the Ford Repair Motto is "Done right the first time, every time" Be assertive. Where I work the squeaky wheel gets the grease!
