Lack of power!!

I have finally gotten the idle problem fixed and the timing is on 0. Problem now is that when truck shifts to 2nd gear I notice a lack of power and then it will pick back up. It never did this until I rebuilt the dist and put it back in. Should I advance the timing? How would I go about it?

Re: Lack of power!!

No mention of a model year or engine size...that would help alot in determining the correct timing. There should be an emissions sticker on your hood or radiator support that has this info too.

Re: Lack of power!!

With the EST connected, the timing should be around 20 BTDC with the engine at idle. What is yours at?

If this was not the case before pulling the dist, I would double check all connections and vacuum lines to make sure everything is hooked back up.
