Whirring sound on acceleration
I have a 2000 Subaru Outback with over 270,000 miles on it.
The Transmission was repaired about 80,000 miles ago... Routine maintenance has always been maintained. Belts, fluids, tires rotated, alignment, brakes, etc... Here is the newest symptom... While accelerating you get a whirring sound which appears to be coming from the right front. When you reach speed, or take the foot off the accelerator, it stops. It does not happen when at stop, with brake pressed in Park, or in Neutral, and the accelerator is pressed. Only when moving, and only after 25 MPH. (As far as I can tell...) Any suggestions? Thanks, Troy |

Re: Whirring sound on acceleration
sounds like a worn axle (aka CV joint) to me, get it checked out.
