clutch problem !

I own a 1991 gmc sonoma. A few days ago i realized that the clutch was gone and it had no resistance. so i bought a new clutch and pulled the old one out. the old clutch looked pretty worn. after i put everything back together the clutch feels the same. i push it to the floor but only feel a little resistance about an inch from the floor. i tried bleeding it by pumping the clutch and letting air out of the bleeder.(i have lots of fluid in the resevoir) i also cracked the hydraulic line close to the bleeder, but only little drips would come out. so my question is . . . .am i bleeding the line wrong or maybe something is wrong with the hydraulic line after the clutch pedestal. . .

you need to bleed it where the bleeder is and you need two people one under car and one in car.i see you did bleed it at bleeder. sounds like you still have air in slave cyl.

i was pumping on the clutch alot while a buddy was below letting the air out of the bleeder and only a couple drips of fluid came out of the hydraulic line. so, im thinkin there might be a problem with the clutch master cylinder. maybe a seal has gone on it. if that is the problem, and i buy a new one. . .how do i bench bleed the new part ?

you don't bench bleed clutch resevior if you do you bleed at slave cyl. you never pinched that rubber hose going to slave cyl did you? if you did i think thats your problem. take the hose off at clutch resevior if it comes pouring out. it's the hose going to slave cyl or slave cyl might be your problem it's self.

nope i didnt pinch the hose. I did take the hose off at the master cylinder and pumped the clutch. nothing was coming out. so i have ordered that part. how do i prepare the new clutch master cylinder and remove the air out of it ?

you bleed that at the slave cyl. i don't of any other way thats the way i've always done it.
