Carburettored 302 GTRA Dyno Results
Well we finally got back to the dyno after completing the change over to carb and putting together the custom tuned legth exhaust system. Took a while to get aluminium case diff head in and PI dash issues sorted but we got there in the end.
![]() The results were very interesting. Compared to our baseline (set on the same dynojet dyno: 280 rwtq and 301 rwhp) with the new engine prior to making up the custom exhaust, overall we gained over 50 ftlbs of rwtq and over 30 rwhp. Best peak figures from all runs were 344rwhp and 336rwtq. Max power at 5700rpm and max torque at 4600rpm. Made all those hours of fabrication worthwhile, especially given the header lengths are tuned for a 358 cube engine so not optimised for current 302 short block. We tried a lot of different set up variations during the day ranging from upsizing from 650cfm to 750cfm Mighty Demon, running a 1" carb spacer, running an intake diffuser, lots of different total timing numbers and running a race grade oil. Some of the normal race tricks produced absolutely no gains while a couple were very useful. Also got some new wheels for the car for running endurance, really change the look of the car.
