Question regarding my Nissan 200SX SE

I am not sure if this is the right forum or not, so I apologize ahead of time if it isn't.

Our Nissan for some reason sometimes has a bad time with taking off. You know how most cars you drive, you barely hit the gas, and the car takes off? Well with our Nissan, you sometimes have to put it to the floor board and it still has issues with taking off. It doesn't like any type of incline or hill really.

I know it has an issue some where preventing it from being able to go fast, but I am not sure where the issue is lying. Any ideas?

Re: Question regarding my Nissan 200SX SE

start with basics- when was last tune up ie; spark plugs, fuel, air filters
then if they are good, recently replaced.
check exhaust for restriction- ie cat converter.
A muffler shop or decent shop should be able to test for back pressure.
I use to use a vacuum/pressure tester. drill a small hole in front of cat and use a metal tube to insert into drilled hole. pressure should not be over 2-3 psi. then check after cat . Then check timing belt- iff applicable

good luck

Re: Question regarding my Nissan 200SX SE

Chances are it is needing a tune up. My wife said that her friend who owned the car before us had it for like 5 or 6 years and never did one. Amazed me it is still running once I found that out.

So beings my father in law owns a body shop, he said he will check it all out either tomorrow or Monday.
