Mirror with outside temp want to replace
Hope someone can help here. I have a 2000 Lesabre with the auto dim rearview mirror with compass only. Why in H did GM not make the outside temp standard by the 2000 model year, how stupid. My 96 Transport had it. Anyway I was thinking of replacing the mirror with the auto-dim with compass and outside temp but I dont know if the car wiring has the needed electrical wires already in the vehicle harness. I know I will have to add the sensor but that should be easy. I know sometimes the OEM puts the necessary wires into the harness bundle because this reduces part numbers. Any ideas.

Re: Mirror with outside temp want to replace
I bought a small thermometer with a remote sending unit from Walmart. I think it was about $10. I stuck the sending unit up on the front bumper and have the gauge in the cab. This works fairly well, but the batteries have to be replaced occasionally.

Re: Mirror with outside temp want to replace
I saw the walmart $10 one. Seems like a cheap solution for my 2002 Custom.
Where did you mount yours? |

Re: Mirror with outside temp want to replace
The sending unit sits inside the little plastic piece just below the bumper and in front of the radiator. You can see it when the hood is open. I never actually fastened it in. It just sits in there and can be accessed easy to change the batteries. The receiver just sits in a round tray I have in the cab. It is one of those plastic tray things that fits into one of the cup holders and rests on the seat. I couldn't decide where to fasten it on the dash. It has to be removable to replace the batteries. It could be attached with velcro is suppose.
