Re: Cinquecento and Land Cruiser new

Fiat = cool.

Land Cruiser =

It's not even new; it's the last generation Land Cruiser. Who wants a model of a used Land Cruiser? Waste of time, talent, and money. Where's the new Civic? STI? Evo??? M3? GT3 RS? GT2? 370Z?

Morons.

You raise the issue again.... Why there are tons of Ferrari F430, Enzo and 350 GTR while so many new and classic cars are missing. Why do not they learn from the 1960 Pontiac by Trumpeter. That kit was a great market hit despite its severe inaccuracies.

Yeah...would have rather seen other stuff, but still thankful that Fujimi continues to release an onslaught of new models (unlike re-release Tamiya).

Cant wait for the FIAT!! My fingers have been crossed that fiat would use that car to re-enter the american market for a while! (I know that would never happen, just a pipe dream!)

The Trumpeter Pontiac was a great hit? By whose account? It didn't sell well at all. Most hobby shops ended up discounting them by a massive amount to move them out the door. When Hobby Lobby had 40-50% off sales they still sat. I've certainly not seen very many built on the tables at shows or on forums. If the Pontiac or the other cars had been a market hit, Trumpeter would be making more models like the Pontiac. Trust me, they will not be making more, and they did have other future products in line if the 1/25 scale cars were selling. The Pontiac was a loser. The Nova a bit better, especially the HT. The Monte Carlo was an utter disaster, both design-wise and sales-wise. And what has Trumpeter done since all of them? They raised the prices. Sorry, but commanding a Tamiya price for a model with far less than Tamiya precision isn't going to be a hit anywhere.

Mainstream model companies have to make money at their business, they can't affort to do anything too esoteric. Tamiya could barely give away their Land Cruiser, that's another model that was always a shelf-dweller due to subject matter and price, the only time I'd see them sell was when marked down dramatically to move it off the shelf for something better. So now Fujimi wants to do one? Why?? That's a whole lot of money spent on something that likely will lose them money.

Re: Cinquecento and Land Cruiser new

For all the licensing/market talk, I think that sometimes there's no rhyme nor reason to what these companies choose to produce.

Am I mistaken, or is that the previous generation Land Cruiser?

Re: Cinquecento and Land Cruiser new

Remember back when AMT (I think) announced a 1/24 Bentley Continental GT? Ohhh, how I would have liked to have that model instead of a used Land Cruiser.

Let's just hope the Ferrari California is in the pipeline.

Yeah, that was a surprise, and then they backed out almost immediately because they couldn't get licensing (or so they said). The idiots who were running AMT back then make the people running GM and Chrysler right now seem like visionaries

A kit of the Continental GT would probably be quite popular. I would definitely want a couple to play with

Won't bother me a bit if they don't do that one. I'd rather have any new Aston, or that Continental GT. The California was hit with an ugly stick; unfortunately that new outfit does make it look fat
