my metro did something interesting today...
Today I got of work at 7am. Metro was low on fuel so I stopped at the gas station on the way home. Pumped 7.2 gallons at $2.49 per gallon. I let the gas nossel click once than like I always do, I added some more to round up the dollar amount to an even figure $18.00.
It was 30 degrees F out. I go out to car later in the day to add a fuel additive to the gas ( called fuel power ). When I opened up the gas cap, gas flowed out. It was under some pressure.. lost at least 4 oz of gas thru the gas cap The temp was about 72 degrees F out.. So my question is, did I just put to much gas in and it expanded with the increase in temp??? |

Maybe that old lady you ran over was pushing up on the fuel tank
![]() I would say that if you did not drive far after the fill, the warmer temp expanded it.

Re: my metro did something interesting today...
Since it is close to Halloween, I'd say it was evil spirits....
You know what evil means.... Someone you don't want to vote for. or "Spirits" - vaporous OIL and Evil - "OIL" - thus evil spirits. Now - if you were using Ethanol...why then we have "Spirits" or Booze...not evil. DoctorBill

Re: my metro did something interesting today...
Something similar happened to my car a couple of times. The tank was full and the temperature/sun was very hot on my parked black Metro. The gas either expanded or evaporated causing it to leak from the overflow. When the gas cap was loosened and then tightened again, it relieved the leak.
