Removing scratches in glass
I'm trying to clean up some glass from a kit and I've had very limited results in the past.
I've 'quick' dipped windsheild glass into a glass of Future floor wax. I did this quick to avoid pooling of the Future and tilted it to the side and carefully wicked the pool mark until I was satisfied with the result. ![]() I know alot of the military modelers talk about using this method with good result, though it didn't work too well for me. Though, I had considered possibly thinning it with????? that's the problem, not sure what with??? Also, I've tried using Tamiya finish compound to buff the scratches out and this didn't work too well. I recently bought some Finishers compound from Hiroboy and am anxious to see how these compounds work. lastly, I've just waxed the glass with Tamiya modeling wax, whereby the glass has less noticeable scratches and somewhat 'ghost' scratches left behind. This is an example of the scratches i'm dealing with

Re: Removing scratches in glass
tamiya compounds are great for this type of work.. but the best option is micro-mesh polishing system.. you can find them via www.micromark.com

Re: Removing scratches in glass
Your problem may be caused by the type of fabric you use, rather than the compound.

Re: Removing scratches in glass
micromesh, polishing compound and wax is the way to go. THe futut is a good thin for small pieces of glass like a canopy, but for a wind shield it's not good. I have once prayed soms layers of verry diluted tamiya acrylic clear of a windshield and with some polishing you can get verry good results
