Should I do a routine trans service on a '99

I have a 1999 3.4L with 153,000 miles. My mechanic recommends a routine service on the transmission, including the following: Replace Transmission Filter and Pan Gasket, Flush Out 100% Transmission Fluid and perform a Band Adjustment if necessary. The cost is estimated at $335.00. I've never had the fluid or filter replaced and I am not having any problems. The vehicle is never used for towing and is not subjected to unusual conditions. So, is this a good idea to have it done or should I leave well enough alone?

I would NOT recommend a flush for your trans. At most, a filter change, plus the required 7.4 quarts of new fluid.

If you trans is acting perfectly fine now, I would not take a chance on a flush. I have heard too many stories of people making problems by subjecting their trans to a full flush.

I agree,do not flush the transmission.I do know a transmission shop in my area that does tons of valve body cleanings and rebuilds due to transmissions getting flushed.Change the fluid and filter only.Another thing,do not throw the pan gasket away.It is a reusable pan gasket which can be used over
