1991 lumina, front strut assembly

When my 1991 lumina is jacked up on the front left or right side, the spring seat and bearing( left or right strut assembly) travels down and and rubs against the brake hose (where it's connected to the brake pipe) wearing the brake hose away. Is this inherent with the 91 lumina? If not what can I do to rectify the problem? When I jack up my 97 lumina, the spring seat does not travel down that far. Anyone with a 91 lumina, if you have the time, please jack up your car on the front left or right side and observe if the spring seat travels down and rubs against the brake hose. I would appreciate your observations.

I have 2 of them, neither one has any such problem.

Re: 1991 lumina, front strut assembly

thanx for looking. I found the fix. I replaced both front brakes hoses and strut cartridges. The cartridges were the fix. Apparently, the faulty cartridges extended down with gravity too far thus allowing the springs to expand. Purchasd a Lisle tool online. A very easy & non time consuming repair.
