1994 Explorer Missing

Started last week. It will start missing after it warms up and I take off from a stop, and going into over drive. I let off the gas then hit it hard it will run fine for awhile then it may start missing again in over drive.
It does not miss while idling. I added "heat" thinking it may had some moisture in the gas, has not helped. What do you think may be wrong? Thanks Tony

Re: 1994 Explorer Missing

When's the last time a tune up was performed? Do you use fuel injector cleaner regularly? How old is the battery?

Re: 1994 Explorer Missing

I'd suggest you at least pull a plug or two. If it looks like they've been in there ahile, perform a tune up consisting of plugs, wires, fuel filter, and checking the air filter.

Re: 1994 Explorer Missing

I agree with Rod. From your description, I feel it is an ignition misfire. I would invest in a complete tune up, filters and all.

Re: 1994 Explorer Missing

Just changed the plugs. It runs much better. I'm now thinking that I'm the 4th owner. It has 189xxx miles on it and the plugs look like they had 189xxx miles on them...
Thanks, Tony
