shaking at high speeds...i think.
i'm not sure if its how this thing is suppose to ride on the highway. i dont drive on the highway much. but it seems like it shakes around 60mph. could this be a sign of bad shocks? im pretty sure theyre bad so maybe this is just proving the fact.

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
Shocks, tires, front end, bearings, any number of things.

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
yes if struts are week and bouncing it should make your tires chop out you can tell yhis by rubbing your hand around tread you may feel where it's cupping or choping. another thing out of boulance or need to be spun balanced it will tell you if you got bad tire or bent rim. and are you running air in tires that they want you to run air in tires of factory setting not what the tires call for.

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
I forgot to mention i put slightly bigger tires than the factory ones on a while ago. They're 215/70's. And also as you may notice in my avatar i put trim rings and center caps. But i didnt think that these would set off teh balance so much if thats what it is.

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
i would look at the u joints. it happened in my old valiant at around 60 mph so i replaced em and no vibrations.

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
i would get it aligned and that might get rid of your shaking because when you changed tires size it changed your alignment.

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
50% of ride complaints are tire related. I'd get the tires balanced first. You may have has a weight fall off or a tire picked up a lump of road tar. Look them over for a possible broken belt, you should be able to feel it on the sidewall towards the tread.

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
Ok theres nothing wrong with the tires themselves. They only a year old with maybe 500 miles on them. I think it might be an alignment problem and/or balance problem. Again i think its a result of me adding the center caps and trim rings. So i'm assuming if i get my tires balanced with the center caps and trim rings on then the issue should be solved right?

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
You don't get that sort of ride problem from an alignment issue, you're probably right about the trim rings and caps, take them off and go for a test run, you'll see right away.
Are your wheels chrome plated? The wheel weights sometimes either slip on the rim or fall off. Bob |

Re: shaking at high speeds...i think.
maybe not shaking but if you went with bigger tire's that knocks it out of alignment.
