99 Buick Regal LS P1810 & P1811 Codes/ Tranny rebuild?

Hello there,

I currently drive a 1999 Buick Regal LS and it has about 141,000 miles on it.

I have LOST 3rd gear (as in the car doesnt shift to third gear at all) about 2 weeks ago and just had the chance to get it scanned today.

The codes that showed up at the shop were:
P1810
&
P1811

The shop that I went to told me I will need a transmission rebuild. Quoted me for about 1,000. Cheapest i found was for 625.

A while ago i also got a P0742 code, but im not sure if thats in anyway related to the two I have now.

How do i go about finding out deeper what the problem is? I read a little bit online and saw that it might be the PCS solenoid?

Can someone enlighten me in plain english on what those codes mean?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Shep - maxwedge.

To the OP welcome to AF.

When was the last tranny service? Screen filter and ATF.

Do you have 3rd gear in manual? What happens when you manually uphift through the gears starting from 1st - D1.

P1811 is a max adapt long shift DTC and could be the PCS solenoid or other internal problems. The P1810 is not good and indicates a fault with the pressure switch assembly which might explain the loss of 3rd gear in drive.

Even in manual 3rd didnt work.

Going in for a rebuild this week. Car almost left me stranded, no gears worked.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck.
