99 montana, winding noise from tranny
My 99 Montana makes a winding noise, sounds like power steering when low on fluid but it is definitly not that. The noise is coming from the tranny. It starts the noise after it's been driven several miles.The van shifts good and runs smooth. When I step on the gas is when it's the loudest. Any ideas anyone?

Get a tranny cooler to prolong the life. Do a search on 4t65e trannys on this web site; the same tranny is used in several other GM cars and there are lots of great threads about the problems with it.

I had a similar problem with 2001 Pontiac Montana.
Ran and shifted fine for quite a while (variable), but would start whining and also would shift hard when whining. Replaced the Transmission filter & fluid (which was pretty dirty but not burnt), and this seems to have fixed the problem.
