Re: 1/24 coachbuilding the 1739GT Bertone 3000 (body only)

Wow - another inspirational scratchbuild! Your threads have inspired me to look into scratchbuilding another overlooked / unmodelled Ferrari. Nothing to show yet though as I only have the donor kit and still collating reference pics

well, i'm glad if i can be of any help for your quest! use only spare body from an incomplete kit to mod & take your time to collect everything about the car you wanted to coachbuild. chances are...you'll need alot of time to scratchbuild new parts or source for them from other car kits. for all your hardship now, you are on your way to create a one of a kind ferrari not even existed in 1/24 of any form.

that's the ultimate reward you're gonna have!
cheers!

Re: 1/24 coachbuilding the 1739GT Bertone 3000 (body only)

new updates...

as seen here, i opened the doors & added a makeshift roof. at this time the stance capturing is very important cos' once the CA glue sets in, it'll be very hard to correct anything.

here's a shot from the top. i've added a trunk in. this trunk have to be in the same height as those recessed fenders mentioned earlier. upon closer look at the pics i noticed the trunk has a slight curve on its tail...i copied accordingly.

another view from the back. those thick styrene on the inside are foundation laid for the bonnet piece removal. i hope the height of the roof looks okay though...

view from the front. i reckon the bertone 3000 has one of the largest bonnet piece opening in the classic cars arena. nearly the whole front tilts up when open!
i must say this is the hardest part of the whole coachbuilding process. i nearly crack my brain juice to figure how to cut the whole bonnet out & leave some space behind for the windscreen to ledge on (later the doors too!)

i have to be very precise, sharp & logic thinking here...so wish me luck!
til next time...

(no stars for this feat!? )
