Issue w/ back breaks
I can hear the rear brakes dragging a little bit but the e-brake is not pulled. What would cause both rear brakes to drag? I was thinking maybe it was the ebrake stuck up a little but I tried pulling up on it and pushing down hard but that didn't seem to help. Also when I put the brakes on the sound is effected only a little bit but not enough to make the sound go away unless I push the brakes hard. What would cause this?

Re: Issue w/ back breaks
How are the 1g rear brakes set up? Are they disc and drum like the 2gs? Everynow and then I will hear my brakes drag a little bit but its not enough to do anything but make noise. Are the brakes applying any force to the rotor? Try driving down the street, use your gears to slow down or let the car slow down on its own and check your rear brakes to see if they are hot. That will tell you whether its a big problem or not.

Re: Issue w/ back breaks
They are disc brakes. I first noticed when there was excessive brake dust on the rims. I did notice once that when I put my hand near the rotor after driving to work, it seemed quite warm. I hear the dragging more often then not so it must be something related to the e-brake system since it is both rear tires. What do you think?

Re: Issue w/ back breaks
Without looking into it more Im not sure what to tell you. It does seem odd that both rear brakes are doing the same thing which would leak me to believe it could be something with the e-brake system. I would check under the car and see if the cable move freely or if they are getting stuck. You car is pretty old so its possible. I would also check your brake lines and calipers to make sure they aren't sticking. I have seen brake lines collapse and when you push the brakes they pressurize but when you let off they wont allow to fluid to come back threw. Not saything thats the problem but just something to look for while your under there.

Re: Issue w/ back breaks
What does this clip go to? Does it hold the pads in place? The reason I'm asking is cause I was feeling through the rim on the caliper and this clip just kind of fell into my hand!?!? I can't take the rim off yet (refer to thread in the Exterior and Wheels area) so I think it might be unsafe to drive. I first thought both rear brakes were dragging but it appears to just be a sticking caliper on the rear passenger side.
