97 k1500 steering sensor discontinued?
I just got back from the dealer where I was told the steering sensor I need for my 97k1500 is absolete and no longer avaliable. But, they would sell me a flow control valve to replace my sensor for 85 dollars. I asked what I should do with the wire it was connected to and he really didn't have an answer. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, did you replace the sensor with the flow control valve or were you able to find the correct steering sensor and if you did find the sensor what is the part number and how much did it cost you? My truck has been acting like it is slipping on ice when you go around a corner for some time now and I would really like to fix this problem.

Re: 97 k1500 steering sensor discontinued?
Welcome to AF.
I think you got a bum rap from this dealer. Any parts store will sell you a SWSS (Steering Wheel Speed Sensor) for your '97. From your post it would be the most likely culprit. Do a search in this main forum for EVO or steering jerks for more detailed explanations.

No part number here. But I found this very old thread that should help with the install...
