99 Taurus 300 Oil Pump removal

Does the engine need to be pulled to remove the oil pan to replace the oil pump? Any advice or tips on doing this job? Thanks

Re: 99 Taurus 300 Oil Pump removal

I would suggest you buy a Haynes repair manual, about 20 dollars available at most auto parts stores, and read through the procedure. Haynes usually gives good step by step instructions. NOTE: I am not sure if you can replace the oil pump on a '99 without pulling the engine, but most vehicles you can. The Haynes manual will tell you. What makes you think you need to replace the oil pump?

Zero oil pressure at the lifters, 3 of them have no pressure and are very spongy when you take the rocker arm and put pressure do9wn on them to open the valves properly, and the oil light is on full time now. I don't know what else it could be? Any suggestions?
