Thermostat Replace

I need to replace my stat 00 Montana. I see one bolt on the housing not the other. any tips before I start taking things off.

The red arrow labeled thermostat is actually pointing at the lower hole. The yellow arrow is pointing at the top hole. It is not necessary to remove the throttle body but it can help especially if you need to see what you are doing.

the bottom t-stat housing bolt does not have to be removed back it out maybe 1/4" as there is a notch in the t-stat housing so it will come off the bottom bolt and remove top bolt. do yourself a big favor and buy a new t-stat made in u.s.a. that way you won't have to replace it 30 minutes later.if you buy one made in mexico it will not open and you will have to replace it.i didn't bother draining coolant as you will not loose much.and be sure to bleed the cooling system using the bleeder on the t-stat housing and above waterpump.the center screws out when you have coolant close it.
