1998 S10, more power?

I recently got a 1998 S10 LS 4cyl and it now has about 139,000 miles on it. I really like the truck but I really want more power and putting in a different engine in it is a last resort. Anybody know how I can get more power out of my S10 without a new engine? If i have to end up putting in a new engine how much is it going to cost me for a more powerful engine like a V6 and have a shop put it in?

I also want to lift it and get more ground clearance, put bigger tires on, just basically make it look a little meaner. Right now it's got the factory suspension and such in it. Is this a good idea since I only have a little 4cyl engine in it? Also what would be the best lift and tire size for that as well as how much will the lift approx. cost?
