removing ign.sw
Can anyone explain how to remove the ign. sw on a 2001 Impala so I can check the voltage. Can you just remove the cyl? I remember doing that by pressing on a pin when turning and pulling the cyl.

Re: removing ign.sw
You can get a haynes repair manual, it will tell you how to do it. That's what i'm doing on my 03 impala.

Re: removing ign.sw
OP, I am actually in the process of doing so...
Its fairly easy... You will have to take off the front dash to acess it. It is (obviously) located to the right of the steering wheel. You will have two "pin" attachments that you can take off. There will also be three wires coming out of the switch itself - I do not believe you can take those out as they come hardwired to the switch... So you will have to cut those and resplice on the new switch. You will also have a very heavy insulated wire (you will know when you see it) going into it as well... I had the most trouble trying to take this one off. I had to the the switch apart. The switch is actually in two different parts, and on the middle you will seethat you can "unhook" and pry the latches off to take the switch apart. Only then was I able to take the heavy gauge wire and pull it out of the switch. Good luck. |
