Cool Mercedes SLR 722 GT Transkit by Hobby Design - first look -

Please scroll down to see the photos

Thanx !!!!

(Hi,

these days I had the Hobby Design transkit in my hands.

Here a first impression for you:

The box is full of parts, maybe a little more careful would be good

Here the decals and etched parts - the seat belts are etched stripes ??????

Kit instruction looks like this, no, digicam is ok and your are not drunken. Photos of the resin parts on the body moght be better

Resin parts look good, including the cage (just a hint ...)

The wheels tear the transkit a little bit down. No idea, why the manage to make a clean cage and no clean wheels

)

Thank you for the preview. I can't wait for my 2 kits I ordered last night
I am going to make 2 GT1 LM racers of 2004. (Which where supposed to be run by Mercedes) (One with vodafone and one with West livery)
For the rims, I'm going to be using the ScaleProductions 15 OZ ones which are "clean" versions.

Well, casting quality looks very disappointing, but other than that seems liek a great TK.

Hi,

I just looked at the 1:1 photos: On the front (engine) cover the slots/vents above each wheel are missing.

Oh,

just like always: it costs too much ;-))

Just get aware: THE PRICE

- depends of what Hobby Design demands from the dealers for the transkit,

- plus postage from Hobby Design to the dealer

- plus fees

- plus customs (depending on the country from which you order)

- plus benefit for the dealer

... so, whatīs expensive ????

Hi Micha,

thanks for the review. I agree that the price is a bit steep, but considering all the facts it's not too far off the mark. Not being a student anymore I could order one or two... hehe

Really sad that the rims are not that good.. but I bet I'll find suitable replacement parts from ScaleProduction

Cheers

Hi Seb,

these were exactly my thoughts in the posting above yours:

one modeler is able to buy one transkit (or two like you), other modelers cannot afford it.

Just like real cars: I love exotic cars, but they are too expensive for me (not for my dentist ) - but you wonīt see me crying for that reason, because

T H A T īS L I F E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't KA models make a transkit for this also?
I'm not sure about that but I seem to recall something...

If they did, I wonder how they compare?

Exactly, no reason to start crying. For many years I couldn't afford any resin or PE parts. I know full well what it feels like to look at those kits (and an empty wallet). For those who are able to afford the TKs: buy them, otherwise the small manufacturers of those TKs might be forced to go out of business!

Re: Mercedes SLR 722 GT Transkit by Hobby Design - first look -

@ Klutz_100
KA only made a transkit for the normal 722 special editon ofthe SLR, not the GT1 version (GT1 of sort... Mercedes should have raced the real GT1 version back in 2004 instead of stopping the project halfway through)

Well I know the feeling about the price. Luckally I could buy those expensive kits/TK once in a while despite of being a student (Worked hard and had no othr big expenses)
Luckally I won a couple of euros in the lottery last month to buy 2 TK
