Re: Track Car Build

No, thats shame, depending on who you ended up with.

That is a very good point cassies. We have quite a few 14-18 year old kids up here who know how to use a gun to a degree that the ex military types cant hope to compare to. There is always one or two guys with their Panther Arms knock-off M16/M4s shooting absolutely anything they can see that isnt a person. Then again, we are a HUGE hunting state, so kids learn young.

I am proud of paying for my car, I dont even acknowledge the kids who are driving daddy's little present to them. They are spoiled piles of shit that will never amount to anything because they dont know the value of hard work. If I built with my bare hands a swapped FC with an LSx in it, I would baby that thing more than if I owned anything else. Someone touched it/looked at it wrong, I kill them instantly with a steak knife.

I say go for it and get the FC or some other shell that takes kindly to big ol' V8s. Though the 6g72 would teach you faster than any other engine where not to put your hands.

The only thing wrong with a DPMS is it isn't a Bushmaster or Colt. DPMS is third in line of AR brand I would buy...lol

Yeah, I think the problem is we just give these young kids powerful cars and then they don't respect it. If they build it themselves, the would respect it much, much more.

It will teach him to respect something he made with his own hands, and the pride in "built not bought", so to speak. He'll learn how to drive it in a safe and controled enviroment of the track. He'll be working with his father, or at least in his father's shop, so it'll foster a good bonding experience.

I've been handling firearms since I was 10, and I promise you I am far more qualified with them than half the former "Super DeltaSEALSAS-Rangers" with all their high speed low drag thigh holster black ops mall ninja bullshit. Why? Because my father started me on a Browning Buckmark .22 when I was young. I go to the range and see this ex/retired military types who sweep the range, hardly follow range rules, and have the trigger discipline reminiscent of that seen in an FPS.

I have an amazing problem with someone going out and buying their 16 year old can't find his way out of a paper bag kid a 500hp V10 M5. I have absolutely no problem at all with a 16-17 year old working hard to get some money and build up his own fast car. Start 'em young, and let them learn early on the value of these things.

Its a slow start, but its a good way to change our world for the better if you ask me...
I see what your saying, and I partially agree with it, but then I realize all the dumbass kids there are in the world. Ideally, I would hope for something like u said, but It's rare to find that maturity and responsibility in a 17yr old. He still won't be doing it for 4k tho

Re: Track Car Build

thanks for all the help guys. i might try to go with the 240sx or the civic cause those look like my cheapest options right now. i love workin on cars and a guy at my work just bought a 70 nova with a 382 small block in it. its amazing putting out 567hp all motor. he drove me in it and it was pretty much the greatest day of my life haha. thats the kind of things i love i want to get a great beginner car for now, start on that, and eventually move on to bigger and better things when i move out and start makin some real money. im going to try to do auto x right now but i would love doing 1/4 mile too down the road. cars is my big thing even though i dont know a whole lot.. yet i love american muscle but since im obviously going with auto x for right now nissans and hondas and cars like that are what im going with right now. it all comes down to having the money really, everyone wishes they had more haha

Re: Track Car Build

i agree about the learning more about hard work and building it yourself too. i cant stand kids that get their parents to buy them everything. i know a kid whose parents bought him a v6 99 mustang for his first car and he treats it like shit cause he didnt buy it and pays nothing on it. whereas me and my friend had to buy our first cars we take care of them alot more (sundays are car wash days ) and we do all the work on our cars ourselves, but i also agree with the fact that there are 17 year old dumbasses who cant handle any kind of even moderately fast car or a car period. i can sorta get that way myself. i love driving fast the faster the better but i limit it to either backroads by my house with no cops or other cars or i dont do it at all really now (im paying for gas ) but it depends on the kid. i love working for the things im interested in and want to be of high quality. like i said, it comes down to having the money, but i know my time is coming.... i cant wait lol

almost what id suggest, though not gutted. And depending on funds I might suggest a 302 instead since it could still give enough powah.

Very true. Or possibly an older 350 crate. Doesn't need to be an LS based motor. I just know the car can keep damn near stock (if not exactly 50/50) distribution with the lighter weight LS1.
