under dash lights

are the lights under the dash built into the plastic or do they come out

If you are talking about the 1997-2003 Malibu, the lights are mounted on the left and right sides. They come out quite nicely, easiest if you remove the trim first so that you can grasp the bulb.

you dont have to take the trim off the plastic part twists out of the meatal holders but the reason i asked was because when i replaced the lights behind the gauges thy were built into the plastic holders and i had to break the bulbs to get them out

i wasnt. i was refering to them because i changed the ones behind the gauges in my car and the bulbs were built in to the plastic that holds the bulb .i was trying to get one out under the dash and i couldnt pulit out so i was wondering if they did the same thing with those too

The under dash bulbs can just be pulled out of their sockets, and the new ones just push in.
