Water leak--97 Grand Am

Is water leaking a common problem with a Grand Am? Seems to leak through the dash onto the drivers side floor. Just replaced the Air bag modular uder the passenger seat , shorting out cluster from water damage. Where is a good place to start? windshield ?

Re: Water leak--97 Grand Am

Welcome to AF!!

Yes they are leakers.

I would start looking on the fire wall where the strut towers are attached to the fire wall under the hood.
It is almost impossible to see, but they do leak there on both sides. Its caused from the rubbery adheasive they use to fill the seams & voids, it drys out and then it begins to drop pieces causing a leak or two, a real PITA to reach.

Might try looking in the cabin area first, you should see the seam(s) under the carpet mat up on the fire wall/floor.
