2001 impala wont turn over.

My son has a 2001 impala that just will not crank after setting for a week. Replaced the batt. and have head lights. The radio works and all the gages seem to work but when you turn the key to start the engine will not crank. I checked the cables to the starter and have 12v to the solenoid with the key in the start pos. I read about the passcode issues but the key ls a steel key with no chip. Does the pass code problem still apply.

Welcome to AF. Yes you have PK11 or 111, is the security lite on during the no start event? You said you have 12v to the starter solenoid in the crank position, then the starter or solenoid is bad. BTW which wire has 12v, the one to the S terminal is the one you should be checking.
