87 Turbo coupe wiring

my 87 TC has a wiring problem. The windows will not go up or down, the electric seat will not move, the door locks don't work and the trunk button don't work. I have checked the power to the seats and windows with a light tester it turns the light dark orange and it has very little power to them . I also checked the fuses all look ok.

Re: 87 Turbo coupe wiring

Welcome to the forum Big-H427. I would suggest going on ebay to buy the factory electrical manual for you car. Here are two that I found.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search...ual&category0=

Be sure you have the test light connected to a good clean ground point! Connect the test light across the battery and see if it is brighter then what you see at the seat and window connectors. If it is then check your ground connection again when checking for voltage at the connectors. If the light comes on at all of the seat and window motor connectors then you know the feed to them isn't broken anywhere. Do any of the motors make any sounds when you push their switch? Has the car been submerged in water? If you buy a manual, email me a copy of the pages that have the circuits you are having problems with and I can help you with exact info for your Bird.

Re: 87 Turbo coupe wiring

I may have found the problem. There are two small square circuits under the passenger side seat. I disconnected them from their harness I found that they have good power to both of them. I then used a jump wire from the positive to the wire that goes to the window and it lit up my tester nice and bright. I think I only need to replace them (I hope) thank you for your reply

Re: 87 Turbo coupe wiring

Do you mean the connectors under the seat? These would probably be for the power seat motor but not for the power window circuit. One of those electrical manuals you told you about can save a lot of time and they don't cost much but you can try asking at your local library for a Mitchell electrical manual for your year car. They usually let you photocopy the pages that you need. All of the circuits you are having problems with wouldn't go through the two connectors under the passenger seat. Let us know if you need more help. I am not the one selling manuals on Ebay but I have bought them for my own use which includes helping people in this forum! Good luck.
