96 Lumina Throttle Hesitation

My 96 Lumina 3.1L has an intermittent off-idle throttle hesitation problem. No "check engine" light. Interesting to note that upon hesitation, if I release the gas pedal all the way and then depress it again, the hesitation seems to go away. I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator, MAP sensor and air filter. I've put injector cleaner in the gas. I cleaned the throttle plate and MAF screen. The fuel pump and filter were replaced about a year ago. Thanks for any help.

Re: 96 Lumina Throttle Hesitation

Say you gas it up with the hesitation. You already have the rpm up to where the IAC no longer matters.
If say the throttle plate is closed, the IAC loops over the closed throttle plate and that acts as if you just stepped on the gas to keep the idle up.
So, you my have missed checking the IAC. You may have added more of a problem with the injector cleaner because some of that stuff melts rubber and plastic coatings that separate the coil windings off each other in the injector body; where the plunger moves via electro-magnet.

Just a warning not to use injector cleaner is watch out for certain chemicals used against what OEM uses as far as material and melting things into goo.
