97 maxima front noise

After going through flood waters, the car has developed a whining noise near the crankshaft. It sounds like bad bearings. I had done the timing chain a year ago and that noise seem to come from the top unlike this one.

Could it be the a/c compressor pulley, crankshaft pulley or lower timing components.

Yes, any dying bearing.

Buy a mechanics stethoscope from a local shop (10$), listen/locate by placing its probe on suspect components. Keep fingers & loose clothes far...

A very long screwdriver works on some places as a subsitute (tip placed on suspect source, ear on handle)
