Question Pontiac Montana year 2000 engine light

The engine light in the past came on every once in a while, but after tightening the gas cap and driving it several times it would go out. Lately the light is on steady, I thought it would go out after tightening the gas cap but no luck, its been about a month now that light is on steady. The van runs fine no hick ups the engine hasn't run any different. The only change i've noticed is that when you go to put gas in the tank even though it is near empty it will only accept roughly $40 worth? The gas station pump will start to click off and even though you hold it down it still clicks off?

Does anyone know what is wrong or if there is a fix?

Thanks in advance!!!

Sounds like maybe there is an issue with the vent solenoid. If there is than the code will likely be for that issue. Have it scanned and post the code.

You can have it scanned at just about any parts store for free. Get it scanned and let us know what the code is. You could throw parts at it and literaly spend 4 times the amount that "GM" would charge to diagnose it.

It will do no good to guess!
