Silver F1 spotted in Long Island

A friend of mine told me that he saw a silver F1 driving next to an Enzo about a week ago, here on Long Island.

Does anyone have any info or know what chassis # it would be.

Could have been #045 previously seen on the NY Supercar Run......?

Re: Silver F1 spotted in Long Island

There are actually several possibilities making that a difficult question to answer.

If it was bright silver in color, chassis' #024, #044, #055 and #074 are all fairly local and could be the one. Chassis #045 lives in that area as well, but is Dark Silver - some might call it Titanium.

You could eliminate or narrow it down to chassis' #055 and #074 if he recalls where the mirrors were located. Both of them have a rather unique option with the mirrors mounted up high, on the a-pillar section of the door. Here's an example of each one - both of which are owned by Ralph Lauren btw:

There are also at least two silver F1s in the USA that are no longer with their previous owners. One would be chassis #062 and the other #067. A friend of mine recently told me that someone in the area had also acquired a silver F1, but he didn't have all the details on it yet. I would guess that it is most likely one of those two cars, unless he went outside the USA for it, where there have been two or three other silver F1s for sale in recent months.

Just tell him to be glad he saw it, and that maybe with photos the chassis number could have been determined, but without it is simply too difficult with the silver cars, especially in that particular area of the country which at times is saturated with the cars.

I was going to mention this event and even include the same photo (no surprise) but the run was 6 weeks ago so that just doesn't jive with the timing mentioned in the original post.

I also think it is worth mentioning that that pic makes #045 look a bit brighter in color than it really is. For reference, here's an example of it in the shade where the color loses some of its vibrance:

Re: Silver F1 spotted in Long Island

I didn't state he saw it whilst it was on the NY Supercar Run as like you say the timing was out, just that's when the car was last seen as far as I know.

Good info re the other F1's on that area Erik

That's probably them, because another friend of mine also mentioned seeing a red Enzo last week. Apparently the father owns the F1 and the son owns the Enzo.

Actually I don't think that either of those cars matches up to that story given who owns those two particular cars.

I'm going to speculate that the most likely candidate for your scenario is Herb Chambers who owns F1 #044. He has a son named George who may have an Enzo though I generally do not pay attention to Ferraris in the same way.

There's also another father and son team (if you will) in that area with an Enzo and F1, but the McLaren is white (formerly yellow).

A lot of times the stories about these cars end up like a game of telephone where the actual facts are twisted after multiple exchanges of the information, so it can be hard to be certain that much of anything you hear is correct unfortunately. We try to keep it straight here, but I can point to several times where we were not, and I personally try to be much more careful with assumptions these days.

Either way, it's cool to know that there is an F1 rolling around on Long Island somewhere, as well as an Enzo.

The white one is #014 with the HDF kit, if I'm not mistaken. I've seen it in person and taken pictures of it.

You are correct on #014.

Do you have those photos available to share. This is certainly the crowd for content like that.

I bet any one of the Macs would rather have this plate:

Seen on a MB C63 at the Lime Rock vintage races this past weekend.
