Bleeding The Brakes, For The Fifth Damn Time!
I have bled the brakes four times now and I still am having issues. Here's some background:
I induced some high speed braked fade. One week later I changed the pads and rotors. Since there is a lot of play in the braked pedal with a spongy feel. So, I bought some ATE Super Blue. I flushed out ALL of the old fluid. I then bled the brakes starting at the furthest wheel from the MC and moving my way in. It didn't fix the problem and I bled the system another three times to be sure, no air. So, I was ready to get another MC thinking I had blown the seals and I thought there was nothing left. I was recently informed that I need to have the car running when I do this and I have to do them in a different order. I'm going to do this tomorrow and I want to be sure I do it right. I've heard that one of the reasons that you need the car running is that ait can get trapped in the ABS pump. Is there anything special I need to do to make sure all the air is out beyond pumping the brakes a few times on each caliper? |

Re: Bleeding The Brakes, For The Fifth Damn Time!
Yea, you want the engine running when you do it.
The order is pass rear, driver front, driver rear, pass front. we have a dual redundant system, or something like that, so if theres a failure in a line, 2 brakes will still work. and make sure to continually add fluid to the resevoir. I would do fill it after each caliper, just to be sure it doesn't suck in any air and send you back to square 1. And make sure your closing the bleeder completely before letting back off the brake. EDIT: here i found this handy little guide for you http://www.3si.org/pages/bleedingbrakes.html |

Re: Bleeding The Brakes, For The Fifth Damn Time!
Alright, I just went and bled the system again. I got some air out of the driver rear, a lot actually. Took it out and it was stopping better. Then I remembered that it has been stopping like crap since I put these pads on. So, I decided to bed them in again. By the time I got home it was kicking in the ABS and stopping pretty good.
So good in fact, I think something fell off. I made a stop and then I heard the sound of metal bouncing on the ground. I got out and found this: ![]() Did I just run over this or does it belong somewhere on the car? |
