Angry 95 P.A. traction light, no overdrive

I've been having this problem for a while, along with a bunch of others that were finally corrected. The traction control light "OFF" would come one intermittantly. At some times, I also realized that the car would not shift into overdrive. It was completely random. Turning off the car and restarting usually fixed it but not very helpful on a busy highway. I finally realized that every time my traction light comes on, I lose my overdrive. Any suggestions? Not a high mileage car -- 113K and after new O2 sensor and computer, runs well otherwise, although it doesn't like to start. I need to crank it at least three times to get it running. Both issues need to be resolved. I'm only getting 18 mpg based on one or both problems and it should be higher. Help!

Re: 95 P.A. traction light, no overdrive

I would scan the car for codes to see what issues the PCM is seeing... It seems that the PCM is reverting to a mode cause by another problem of the trans is overheating badly..

Also if there is too much slip in the trans when in Overdrive under full TCC lock the PCM will lock you out of Overdrive and TCC lock until the next drive cycle where the problem may most likely repeat..

There are a few things that can cause this, which is why I'd like to know what codes are stored in the PCM..
