Question 1994 Isuzu Rodeo - Alternator replacement

I have a friend who's looking at a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo with 146,000 miles for $1,000. Ad says alternator needs replaced. Car is listed as is. Can you tell me if this is a good deal and what it would run her to replace the alternator.

Thanks very much!

Re: 1994 Isuzu Rodeo - Alternator replacement

I replaced the alternator on my daughter's 94 Passport. Not the easiest of jobs, belt tightener is under the alternator.

I agree, Napa unit would be a good choice.

I recommend replacing the belts and battery at the same time.

Absoultly--alternator, belts & battery. i went in thru the passenger side wheel well (after removing the tire) & while it was a bit of a chore, it wasnt too bad either. 1000.00 doesnt seem too bad a price if thats all it needs.
better to have a mechanic (or a friend who knows his onions) look it over.

Re: 1994 Isuzu Rodeo - Alternator replacement

I have a 2000 Honda Passport and just recently my abs light, and transmission light came on and began to slip when going into second gear. Anyway, I took it to a transmission place and they say it is electrical and will need to replace it for $2500. The next day I pick it up and the light is not on and it does not slip. Weird. Anyway, I get to work and turn it off and try to turn it back on and the battery is dead. my husband thinks the alternator may be bad. My question is would the bad alternator cause the trans light and abs lights and cause the trans to act weird. I hope I can replace the alternator and fix the other issues. Oh BTW, the battery is brand new like one week old. HELP!, I REally do not want to buy a new car and get a note.

It could.....

There are tons of alternator posts here. You'll find that where/brand you get the alt matters.

BTW, I do hope your maintaining your tranny.
