04 impala starting problem

Hi, I'm new here but have read a lot of posts and have not seen one that addresses my particular problem. I have an 04 impala 3.4 w/108,000 miles. Every 2 or 3 weeks for the last 3 or 4 months I go to start the car and it cranks just fine but will not start. I have learned that if I spray some starting fluid in it, it will start fine and run for a couple weeks. Just this morning, though, it started ok but was running rough all the way to work. At 80,000 miles I replaced the fuel pump. I checked the fuel filter and it's clean and the air filter is clean. About 8,000 miles ago I replaced the plugs and wires. About a month ago I ran the 3 step Berryman fuel injector cleaner system on it. I can't figure it out. I'm hoping someone has had this problem and can help me out. Thanks.

Welcome to AF. Look for fuel in the pressure regulator hose to start with, many things can cause this, so try and pin it down to fuel delivery or injector pulse issues.

did you use an OEM fuel pump?????? If not this is most likely the problem...fuel pressure test is required to be sure...

Re: 04 impala starting problem

I did use an OEM pump. I'll check the pressure today and take a look at the pressure regulator. What should the correct fuel pressure be?

fuel pressure should be in the mid 40's psi.. this problem I would also check the DTC from computer for codes ...also a MAF or ETC sensor may be bad..

check wiring to injectors and the engine grounds..

the fuel filter should be replaced when the fuel pump was replaced...when did you last replace fuel filter?

Re: 04 impala starting problem

I replaced the filter with the pump which was about 28,000 miles ago. I checked the filter a couple days ago and it is in good shape.
