1996 Taurus power loss

My 1996 Taurus loses all power going uphill. It revs high but goes very slow only on hills. Any suggestions?

Re: 1996 Taurus power loss

Welcome to the forum!

Check the transmission fluid for coloration and odor. Does it have a strong odor and appear brownish in color? Does the engine run smoothly, just seems to have no power (like either a slipping transmission or one that is in a low gear) or is it rough (like a misfire/vacuum leak)?

The more details you can provide, the better the forum's response will be.
