Windscreens
Most of us know the F1 roadcars are fitted with a winscreen that is laminated with a very fine gold film to act as a heating element and also serve as a reflector against heat ingress.
My question is that owing to the frequency of windscreen breakages during GT racing were the GTR's fitted with a standard F1 screen or did they use a plain laminated windscreen similar to that used in the majority of cars. I ask this as the frequency of replacing the specialised road car version would be a great drain on the teams finances. Saying that I believe a door shell costs about £24,000 to replace anyway.

Re: Windscreens
I believe it was a different type to that of the roadcar - I have a scan of a magazine article on repairing an F1 GTR windscreen -
![]() and here is a weblink to some videos of #06R's windscreen repairs Here is an interesting article on the road car windscreen (pdf)

Re: Windscreens
Aye! Great! How many real-world owners are going to take their F1 out on a cold, icy and frosty morning?

Re: Windscreens
All GTR,s use the heated windscreen, as there is no fan blown air, for screen demist.

Re: Windscreens
just made me wonder as seen as they do not seem to have the same oily colouration/tint that the road cars windscreens posess.
