blower

So I'm finally around to fixing the blower that hasn't worked in months. Checked the fuses, found one blown. On the chart it was a 15A located at E-1 (radio, HVAC, RFA cluster, data link). That brough back the highest setting only. Then after a few uses it blew again. Changed again, blew again. While looking at the panel I notice the high blower (F-1 on chart) has a 30A in it. The chart specifies a 25A.

1. Why do you think the one fuse keeps blowing out?
2. Do you think I should change the 30A one out for a 25A?
3. What do you think I need to do to get the lower fan speeds?
4. Unrelated but when taking apart the cowl to adjust the weather stripping/replace cabin air filter was there a way to remove those tabs without destroying them? LOL. Do you know where I can get replacements?

Re: blower

As for the fan, I think the highest setting only is a typical symptom of the blower motor resistor being bad, more than one person here has had that problem.

AS for the clips, you might check the section in your parts store that has door panel clips, etc, they may something that will work.

Re: blower

Yeah I remember on another Intrigue I had the resistor went bad and I had the dealer fix it. Then I only had the high fan setting like now. It didn't repeatedly blow the high setting fuse like now though. Where is the resistor located at? What part should I ask for at the store? Do you think replacing the resistor will keep the high setting from blowing?

Re: blower

Well, RockAuto calls it the Blower Motor Resistor, for my car it would be about a 35 dollar part.

I believe the resistor is located in the general area of the blower motor, im not sure though, you might do some searching around on here.

I dont want to say yes or no concernin the blown fuses, because I honestly have no clue, electricals arent my forte, come to think of it I dont have a forte. It almost sounds like a wiring problem of some kind, or the motor itself has a problem. But, the resistor might be a place to start.

Re: blower

OK, yeah I checked it at autozone and they have it for $20. As much as I hate that store it's the closest. There are some pretty good instuctions on here to replace it too so once I figure out which thing it is under there it shouldn't be too hard.
