1994 BMW 740 il Thermostat Problem

Car is stalling during high heat. Gauge reads in the middle. After sitting for a few minutes car will start again but stops. Check engine light is on. Computer reads Coolant Leval Low but water is full. Mean while gauge continues to read half way. Is this my thermostat? If so where is it located?

Going NUTS!

If temp gauge needle is at 12:00 O'Clock you are OK. as to the coolant read out, I would suspect a faulty coolant sensor and that should be in the expansion (coolant over flow) tank. Neither issue should shut you down.

Re: 1994 BMW 740 il Thermostat Problem

Any idea why my check engine light would be on and the temp gauge shoots to the middle and doesnt move? Then the car just shuts down after awhile. When I try to re-start the car it sputters and then starts and shuts down again. What could this be???? HELP

Stop buy Auto Zone, they offer free code scanning (if they have the adapter for your car).
