How much is my engine worth? 2000 Rodeo, 73k, 4 cyl, 2.2L

Hi, I hope someone can help ASAP. Basically, the entire electrical system on my fiance's 2000 Isuzu Rodeo went up in smoke. Sucks, but whatever, way too expensive to bother fixing so we're selling it for all of the greatness that's left to it & buying a different car.

My question: how much is this engine worth???? Someone has inquired about purchasing just that & asked how much we'd want for it. I'd like to give an educated/fair offer, but I can only guess. (not exactly "educated" is it?)

Anyway, it's got between 72-73k on it, is a 4 cyl, 2.2L, manual/ 5 speed if it matters, & has been nothing but great & reliable all along.

So....what's the magic number??? We need to get rid of this vehicle ASAP for as much as we can get for it to put towards the next ride.

Please, if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it! THANKS!

Sorry, I should have clarified....there was no fire, the car didn't burn up. Only all of the electrical wiring & fuse box fried. Everything else on the car is good.

Yes, the mechanic we brought it to for an estimate on repairing the electrical did get the engine to turn over. It's just not driveable as is because with the fried electrical, eveything else in the car acts up.

So yeah, it runs. Anyone have an idea what this engine could be worth? Like, $500? $1000?

Thanks

Really, what am I missing here? Because all I'm thinkin is here's a great engine with under 72k original miles on it, that had only regular maintenance needed in it's lifetime. So, what's the problem? Again, this car did NOT "burn up," no flames, no fire.

Salvage yards usually charge 50% of new or rebuilt price. Private seller you can expect a bit less. A quick search comes up with $1890 for a rebuilt one from HERE.

The 4 cyl isnt in huge demand because most ppl have the 3.2 v6. However, there is some market for them because they are interferance fit engines so if someone didnt change the timing belt on schedule and it broke they will be looking for an engine.

Btw, ppl buy used engines that they cant hear run all the time.

THANK YOU, Gizmo42! for some actual facts & info that I can use as a starting point to come up with a fair asking price for both us & the buyer. We're not trying to rip anyone off, just get what we can for the parts that we KNOW are good. I appreciate the input from you both, but w/all due respect...who said anything about "noise?"

Anyone else?

Btw, I'm not a machine head, I'm a drummer that only gets this involved w/my vehicles when I need to.

I just purchased one from a local salvage for 900 just a basic engine. If yours has all the accessories such as altinator, power steering, ac, and you have the records to prove the up keep i would have took it off your hands my self. Just to bad i read this today instead of last month. Are you in florida might know some local people that would take a look.
