02 Windstar torque convereter
Any way to drop or lift the tranny without droping the cradle to change the torque converter?

Re: 02 Windstar torque convereter
At the dealers, they drop one side of the subframe to pull the tranny away from the engine ... all while on a lift.
When I was faced with the task of swapping a tranny, and having little/no equipment ... I cut four "jack screws" out of metric threaded rod, replaced the subframe mounting bolts: and totally lowered the subframe complete with engine and tranny. Then I separated the tranny from engine ... in the driveway. Not pretty, but it worked. If I was faced with just the torque converter, I might try suspending the engine in-place and dropping the subframe and tranny on jack screws |
