1998 Intrigue
When car is started, it revs up then down and up then down. Then shuts down. Is it due to the throttle position sensor? If so, how due I locate it and replace?

Re: 1998 Intrigue
I moved your post to the appropriate forum.
Here's a link to the component location on a 3800-K motor. If your Intrigue has the 3.5, it's not exactly the same, but the TPS is in a similar location. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=746374 To change, all you have to do is unplug the wiring harness, remove the two screws holding it to the throttle body, and reverse to install new one.

Re: 1998 Intrigue
Do you have a check engine light on? I wouldnt think the TPS would keep the car from running.
What happens if you give it some gas?

Re: 1998 Intrigue
It was idling very rough, as I gave it gas it spit and reved but rpms would fluctuate greatly. Would idle a little, but would soon stall.
Thanks, Rob |

Re: 1998 Intrigue
Sounds like it could be the IAC motor.

Re: 1998 Intrigue
Would that cause it to miss and spit even as you hold the rpm's up?
Thanks, Rob |
