Lowering, how do I go about doing it? All advice and tips welcome.

You start by asking very specific questions, and giving all the information you can.

What are you trying to do? What do you know? What do you need to know? What have you done in the past? Include pics.

Lowering kits very much depends on the kit. Some are very easy, and some are extremely difficult. Obviously what works on one kit won't work on many others. Lowering a kit well, and having an even stance with all four wheels turn and the front wheels steer can be one of the most difficult conversions you can do on some kits.

(Personally, I don't recommend the method described in the above how-to. If you cut the control arms, there will always be a significant weak spot there.)

So, what are you trying to do?

I've ordered a Tamiya Mercedes AMG 500SL and I am planning on fitting a set of Aoshima 20" Trafficstars to it. I guess it will look like a rollerskate if I don't lower it. I haven't got the kit yet so I can post up a pic of the underside. Are you familier with the kit?

To do it well, it's going to require some rather precise surgery to do well.



For the front, I'd shorten the top of the McPherson struts (B1 and B20)- although that won't be particularly easy or straightforward due to the slants the struts are mounted at. Once you have a bit removed from the top of them, the same amount should be added back with spacers at the bottom pivot points of the struts.

As for the rear, I really don't know how I would mess with that....



That would be more than enough reason for me to stick with stock wheels!
