Re: Rust on Fuel Line...

Let soak with WD-40, then use a line wrench or a vice grip...usually they are not as stuck as they look like they should be.

You'll get a lot of spray when it comes loose if you don't depressurize the line first...be ready for it...

Re: Rust on Fuel Line...

WD 40 may not free up a heavily rusted connection, , use PB Blaster or some dedicated rust busting product.

Re: Rust on Fuel Line...

blaster is a good product for that, as well as deep creep. but i think if you add the right amount of pressure while using wd40 you should be fine...

Re: Rust on Fuel Line...

Yes and make sure you use a 5/8 6 point line wrench to avoid rounding the nut on the fuel line.

Re: Rust on Fuel Line...

There are special pairs of Vice grips that grip over rusted and rounded off fasteners if the 5/8 line wrench does not work. They do work and are not cheap, about $25.00 a pair.I have seen cases the old fuel fliter has to be cut first with a recipicating saw

Re: Rust on Fuel Line...

The screw is now round, I bought the right ratchet, but the screw gives up... Now I think I must cut the line, and buy a new screw, right?

Either use vise grips or replace the whole line. No point in trying to reflare a rusty line.
