Dodge Ram 50 1984 no spark

Checked everything. Even replace the distributor. Noticed there isn't a ground pulse going to the coil. The coil has power but it isn't getting the signal in the blue wire to pulse. If I start tapping the signal side of the coil with a jumper wire to ground it'll sputter and try to fire when cranking it over.

What I need to know is where that blue wire (changes to white/black in first plug) goes to or what controls it. Do I have an issue with the computer or is it something else????

Re: Dodge Ram 50 1984 no spark

In my wiring diagram the DK blu is the positive. Ignition switch, alternator, voltage regulator 6 pin connector, spark control computer, egr solenoid, air sw solenoid. On a Ford they always pulse the negative Blk YEL wire. It also goes to the spark computer. I would suspect the spark computer as the signals from the distributor also go to it. As you have a six pin connector I would ohm the wires between the coil and spark computer. Same color all the way.
You can send me a private email and I can scan and fax a copy to you if needed.

Thanks. What I've found is that I am not getting any output from the computer so I suspect that is the problem. Unfortunately a new computer is more than what the truck is worth.

I would get the number off of the computer and call a few scrap yards. Normally they give a 30 day warranty or they replace it free. At least you would get a lot more than scrap for the truck. I've bought used ones for family vehicles and they lasted until I was ready to sell.
