knock at startup?

Whenever you start my car up it sounds like it knocks, but only once just as it starts up. Is this normal? I heard the car does this as a result of all the emissions crap they threw on the car at the factory?

have you chaged oil? could be fly wheel bolt loose,knock sensor how long this been doing this?

Yes i've changed the oil. I believe its been doing this for maybe 5 months. Its very discrete so it might have been doing this ever since i got it a year ago.

your emissions on this engine will not make knocking noises.....pistons make knocking noises and this is not good....could be carbon on the compression rings causing them to not move freely...


try adding 2oz of marvel mystrey oil to full tank of gas if it goes away after a few hundred miles it is carbon issues...in the combustion chambers etc..

I know the noise he's speaking of. Usually happens right as the engine fires, when the engine is warm. Kinda like ber-rer-rer-rer*knock*VROOOM

Nothing to worry about. It's completely normal.

j-cAT: It's a detonation knock, not a piston, rod or main bearing knock.
