88 Astro Van Question

I have a 88 astro van, automatic and it runs great until you put it in gear, then it quits.I have replaced the fuel filter, pcv valve, basically the easy things I know about.I've heard the toque converter can be stuck.I did jack up and it will run in gear off the ground.Any suggestions,Thanks Tony

What is the 8th character in the Vehicle Identification Number, (VIN)? Have you checked fuel pressure?

When I change the fuel filter on it and it didn't help,A guy who stopped to help out took fuel line apart at the filter and by the engine and said there was plenty of volume and preddure, but he had no gages or anything, just a coffee can,lol

Re: 88 Astro Van Question

Had that happen in a '92 Lumina on the Jersey Turnpike - turned out to be the lockup (lockout? guy had a heck of an accent) solenoid in the tranny was bad.

Re: 88 Astro Van Question

With the drive wheels elevated and running in gear, does the engine stall if the brake is applied?
