06 Mountaineer harsh downshift

2006 Mercury Mountaineer V-8, 5 speed automatic trans:

Harsh downshift when coming to a stop.

Feels like someone is bumping into the back of you.

Happens after driving 15 or more miles upon 1st stop.

No computer codes present.

Any ideas?

Re: 06 Mountaineer harsh downshift

2006, that should still be under warranty, right, unless you have a lot of miles on it. Have you addressed your concern with the dealer?

The 5-speed auto has had its share of shift solenoid issues, but I thought Ford had them fixed for the 2006 model year.
